CAUSE
Brooklyn Migration addresses the lack of immigrant resources by offering education support including financial aid, SAT prep, and English tutoring. It also assists with documentation, employment, and provides facilities for resume building and applications. Unlike a standard library, it caters specifically to immigrants and minorities with dedicated staff. Additionally, it features a multicultural food hall on the first floor, offering rental opportunities for stationary kiosks, fostering employment, profit, tourism, and social gatherings.

ABOUT THIS SITE
This 1931 warehouse is up for sale, ideally suited for conversion into a food hall due to the limited nearby retail and dining options. Foot traffic primarily stems from the Brooklyn Army Terminal and neighboring warehouses, with easy access to more densely populated areas of Sunset Park. The property also boasts a scenic view of the Bay Ridge Channel.

Sunset Park, known for its diverse demographics, predominantly comprises minority groups, including a large Latino and Asian population, making it an ideal location for a cultural food hall and immigrant community center.

Additionally:

  • Immigrant households in Brooklyn generated over $30 billion in earnings in 2022.

  • A significant portion of Brooklyn's entrepreneurs are immigrants.
